What did I capture? We went on our Camp Cuyamaca trip this week to take our astrophotography pictures! We got to experiment with our outer space subjects with our camera equipment and settings. My group focused on getting landscape shots with the galaxy sky and star trails. I also helped another group get some lunar and star shots with their telescope. In the first night, we started with capturing the Milky Way across the sky and making a time lapse of it setting. We got up at 2:00 AM to start our process and worked with another classmate that already had a shot ready. With all of our camera settings, we set up our camera where it would capture its set and connected the DSLR to a intervalometer. We set the time intervals for each frame and selected how many shots we wanted. Since everything was set, we just let the camera go and went to bed. The next night, we focused on capturing star trails, which I actually slept through, but my group captured some shots. In the end, I captured some shots of the moon, regular landscape shots of the night sky (also with human subjects), a time lapse of the setting Milky Way, and some shots of the stars. I actually thought that I took awesome photos, but I guess they looked better in the dark. They do not look the best, but they are not processed yet! What Will I remember Ten years from now? This was my first real camping trip so I did not really now what I was getting myself into. I was actually excited to go on this trip to experience camping, astrophotography, and just spending all of my time with my friends. I think I would mostly remember how much fun I had during this trip because we spent most of our time laughing. It was nice to have a break from having priorities and relaxing with my friends. I knew I was going to be pretty confused on what I was doing, regarding camping, because I just did not know what I was doing. I loved just walking around the lake and hiking trails because of the beautiful scenery and taking lots of pictures with my friends. We successfully attempted to make food with the supplies we had and actually brought way more than enough food for our tent. We spent most of our day just talking and had good times playing card games in our tent! Card games actually got pretty aggressive, whoops. The weather was pretty nice during the day, but when it came to sleeping and walking through the night, we were freezing, doing everything we can to keep ourselves warm. Our tent stayed up pretty late to take photos and just could not sleep in general. We also heard some weird conversations from outside of the tent after midnight. I actually could not get over the scenery where we were and did not want to leave, it made me realized how much of my life I had spent in the city. Spending most of my time with the same different people was actually fine without my family, I took care of myself, which went pretty great, not like I have anything to compare it to. I am going to remember so many weird and fun memories from this trip and I am glad I got this opportunity!
